Tongwynlais Temperance has been busy during the current lockdown by preparing for the future with the announcement of a trio of personnel changes.
Changes
The north Cardiff based Championship Section band has promoted Charley Green to the solo horn role as Chelsea James returns home following her studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
Charley said: "I'm so happy to have been offered the position. Having played with Ton since 2018 I've seen a significant rise in the playing in the lead up and following the Welsh Area, and I hope to contribute to this in my new role.
I'm excited for all the new opportunities that will come from being a principal player."
Principal and flugel
Meanwhile, principal cornet Charlotte Hann will move to the flugel horn role as the band welcomes the experienced Darren Thomas to the top chair.
Darren, who is a former principal cornet at Tredegar and solo cornet at Cory told 4BR: "I've always admired how the Ton have worked to achieve great performances. They have been rebuilding but I feel I couldn't have joined at a better time to help push them back to further success.
I'm really looking forward to using my experience with the band for many years to come".

Invaluable
Speaking about the new moves, Band Chairman, Andrew Robbins said: "In filling vacancies we consider carefully how to proceed — and these are all great moves for us.
Darren's experience will be invaluable and he is a great role model for our academy members, Charlotte is a wonderful player and bandsperson and Charley is a rising star."
He added: "The current difficulties have also made us think on how we can continue to make stronger links to our local community through our academy programme and the opportunities we can provide for students at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and local universities."
