Free test piece from Pennine Music

A brand new major work from composer Gavin Somerset can be downloaded for free from Pennine Music — the perfect way to start getting your lips back into competition and concert shape.

Pennine Music
The music can be downloaded for free

Pennine Music is offering a fantastic opportunity to get your lips back into tip top shape by giving away for free parts for a new concert/test piece work by Gavin Somerset.

Windsor Variations

'Windsor Variations' is the first major work by Gavin who has gained widespread acclaim for his clever arrangements. He has taken the familiar tune, 'St. George's Windsor' (Elvey) and develops it into a highly enjoyable series of inventive explorations.

Often sang to the harvest hymn, 'Come, Ye Thankful People Come', its familiarity has allowed Gavin to explore different styles without losing the essence on which it is based — making it easy to understand for listeners but still a challenge for players and conductors alike.

Free opportunity

He told 4BR: "I hope bands will take the opportunity to give it go. I wanted to write something that everyone could enjoy — and it's free too! You can download the parts and start practising at home*

A downloadable playback of the work is also available for you to play along to with a click track included to aid your home practice!"
