Frank Renton has launched a new subscription podcast channel that will feature a wide range of music, anecdotes, interviews and thought provoking ideas.

Vitality and drive

Entitled, 'Frank Renton on Brass', he told 4BR: "I have been involved with brass bands one way or another since I was twelve years old, a not inconsiderable length of time!

As a teenage player in bands I found the whole thing so exciting, the music, the creativity, the people each of whom has a story to tell, but most of all the sound.

That's what the programmes are all about; the vitality and drive of the music making, and at the same time the emotions that it creates in the listener."

Listen to the Band

It is the latest initiative for the musical polymath who was a familiar voice on the BBC with 'Listen to the Band' for over 23 years.

The weekly music podcast aims to showcase the best performances by bands and brass ensembles from all over the world with twice a month Frank presenting 'Beyond the Barlines', where he will be talking to famous names from the world of brass, players, conductors, composers, and finding out what it all means to them.

There will also be a weekly episode of 'Frankly Speaking', where he will be writing from the heart and talking about people and events during his musical life that have moved, amused or simply amazed him.
