It's not only the world's top brass bands that are keen to sign the very best talent to fill high profile roles, with the BBC Symphony Orchestra announcing the appointment of Philip Cobb as their new principal trumpet.
Finest
Regarded as one of the finest trumpet orchestral players of the 21st century, he previously held the same role at the London Symphony Orchestra where he was appointed aged just 21 in 2009.
The B&S artist first came to prominence in the brass band world with a strong link to the Salvation Army which continues to this day.
As a teenager he was appointed the principal cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and has performed with many of the world leading bands, both as a player and soloist.
Critical acclaim
His playing can also be heard on some the biggest film releases of recent years, whilst his solo CD recordings have gained widespread critical acclaim.
A member of the Superbrass, Eminence, Septura and Barbican Brass Ensembles, he also retains a strong link with the banding world, most recently giving a critically acclaimed performance of the Ernest Tomlinson 'Cornet Concerto' accompanied by Tredegar Band at the 2020 RNCM Brass Band Festival.
