Brass Bands England (BBE) has launched the third part of their nationwide Brass Band Contesting Survey. The overall survey is designed to find out views on the current state of brass band contests.
Parts 1 and 2 can still be completed by going to the Brass Bands England website.
Part 3 should only take about 15 minutes to complete.
To take part, go to: BBE.org.uk
https://www.bbe.org.uk/what-we-do/brass-band-contesting-survey or to go direct to Part 3 please go to https://forms.gle/F4GhhZX6M52uVqGz7
One participant from each part of the survey will be picked at random to receive a year's free individual BBE membership. The winner of the first part of the survey was Stuart Reynolds of Blackpool Brass.
Response rate
Speaking about the response to the survey, BBE Partnership & Relationship Development Manager, Alex Parker told 4BR: "We have had over 1,000 responses across the two parts released so far, which represents roughly 8% of all banders who took part in the 2019 'Area' contests.
This will mean the results of the survey will be able to be reported with high statistical significance."

Top and bottom
Alex did however point out that there has been a lower level of participation from Scotland and Wales — representing between 1-3% of all responses, and that they would encourage people to take part.
Meanwhile, the represented region has been London & Southern Counties at 23%, followed by Yorkshire and the West of England follow with 13% each and the North of England with 10%.
