In the latest in the series of interviews with leading personalities around the banding world, 4BR Editor catches up with Alun F Williams, the interim administrator of the National Youth Band organisation.
He explains that despite the 2020 Easter courses being cancelled and the organisation working hard following the death of Philip Biggs, a great deal of ongoing progress has been made — including new management roles.
The safety of the 78 players and staff was paramount, with the 2020 course now postponed until 2021 when Ray Farr and Tom Hutchinson will return.
He has been delighted though by the community involvement of players (and tutors) in initiatives such as the Thursday evening NHS celebrations and heartened that Arts Council England has also been very supportive as the organisation looks forward to the future.
