New online initiative to help teachers and musicians

A new initiative run by bandsman has been started to help self employed music teachers and tutors.

The people who run the popular event ticketing website www.priorbooking.com have created a new website to try and help their teacher and musician friends who have been hit hard by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Run by bandsmen, the company stopped all but essential work and rolled out the new website last week.

www.buyalesson.com is a website for teachers and musicians to list lessons by time and date.

High profile names

Players struck at home can book and pay for an online lesson at a scheduled time that suits them and the teacher.

With some household high profile names listing lessons, there has never been a better time for a player to improve their skills by having some one-to-one tuition at home from some of the best educators in the banding world.

Andy Devereux from the company said: "As business owners we know how difficult times are right now. At the start of the lockdown, many of our friends were losing work as conductors, players and teachers so we decided to try and do something to help.

This is a not-for-profit project, with only a nominal fee of 25p per lesson taken to help cover some of the costs of hosting, security and upkeep of the website."

Easy

In response to initiative, Mark Wilkinson of Foden's told 4BR: "buyalesson has really helped to keep self-employed teachers and musicians like myself working during a very difficult time. It's made the advertising, booking and payment of my lesson fees easy."

www.buyalesson.com is a subsidiary of Priorbooking Ltd which is owned and run by Foden's player Paul McDonald and Andy Devereux, a freelance bass trombone player.
