Conductor and adjudicator Sarah Groarke Booth has taken the opportunity offered by the current Coronavirus lockdown to produce a series of easy to follow 'first step' Conducting Guides.

Aimed at people who wish to take up conducting with a band or ensemble, or to simply find out more about the techniques required, it tackles the basics — and will soon get you looking for a baton of your own...

The first episode is entitled 'A Stick in Time — Getting started — The Ictus' and looks at establishing clear and effective beat patterns (ictus), as well as discussing the merits of left or right handed conducting...
