Following the announcement of the postponement of the 2020 British Open Spring Festival due to be held at Blackpool's Winter Gardens in May, the venue owner, Blackpool Entertainment Company Limited (BECL) has announced the temporary closure of entertainment complex with immediate effect.

Michael Williams, Managing Director of BECL told 4BR: "We regret to announce that as of Tuesday 17th March that the Winter Gardens will close in light of the most recent official government advice.
We will remain closed until further notice and will re-open as soon as possible, following government recommendations. The safety of our audience and workforce is paramount to us as we look to work our way through these very challenging times."

Future
He added: "We will remain in contact over the coming weeks to keep everyone up to date as the situation develops.
We are hopeful that things will get back to normal soon and we hope to see you return to the Winter Gardens Blackpool in the not too distant future."
