Five major works set to test Scottish Open contenders

Bands will be able to choose between five commissioned works in their attempt to win the Scottish Open title later this year.

  The Scottish Open has chosen five major works to celebrate the 125th anniversary of SBBA

Bands competing at the 2020 Scottish Open Championship later this year will have the choice of five major works to perform in their attempt to claim the cross-border title.

125th anniversary

The music selected for the event which celebrates the 125th anniversary of the Scottish Brass Band Association have all been commissioned by them in previous years, and includes two European Championship set-works.

'St Magnus' and 'Muckle Flugga' were written for the 2004 and 2014 European events respectively, whilst 'Macbeth', '...and when the river told' and 'Gallery' were commissioned for the Scottish Open in 2008, 2010 and 2015.

The contest will take place at the Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 28th November.
