The Scottish Open champion Whitburn has announced that former Black Dyke tuba star Joseph Cook will lead them at the forthcoming Scottish Championships in Perth.
The band has already secured its place at the National Final in October after coming third at the 2019 Royal Albert Hall contest.
Career
A renowned performer, in the last few years he has enjoyed a new career in Norway as a freelance tuba soloist, conductor and teacher, conducting Fjell Brass and Krohnengen Brass Bands as well as leading Manger Musikklag to victory at the Oslo Brass Festival in 2018 and 2019.
He told 4BR: "I'm really looking forward to working with Whitburn at the forthcoming Scottish Championships.
It's a real privilege to work with a band with such a rich and successful history, and one that continues to strive for excellence."
