Composer Oliver Waespi's formidable 'Euphonium Concerto' has been performed by two of the world's finest exponents of the instrument this month.
Japan
Emerging Japanese star Ayaka Sato recently played it with the Seta Philharmonic under conductor Yasuhiro Komori in Manno, Japan.
Ayaka is currently finishing her studies with Prof. Thomas Ruedi in Berne and has already an acquired an artistic reputation as an outstanding performer. In 2018 Ayaka won the prestigious Lieksa Brass Week Euphonium Competition in Finland, whilst her debut CD 'Beans' has recently been released to critical acclaim.

The other performance came from Thomas Ruedi himself — the work being dedicated to him by the composer.
He recently performed it with the renowned United States Army Band 'Pershing's Own', at Fort Myer in Arlington Virginia during the 2020 Tuba-Euphonium Workshop.
