Leyland Band has welcomed the signing of the talented Royal Birmingham Conservatoire student Bethan Brown (right) as their new principal baritone.

The third year RBC student has already gained plenty of experience in the top flight of banding with the likes of GUS, Staffordshire, Jaguar Land Rover and Foresters Brass, and will make her contesting debut at the forthcoming North West Regional Championships in Blackpool.

Concerto performance

Bethan has also guested with Tredegar, Brighouse & Rastrick and Foden's, and was recently featured as a joint soloist in a performance of Peter Graham's 'Baritone Concerto' in a RBC Brass Band concert alongside London Symphony Orchestra stars Philip Cobb and Peter Moore.

Bethan is an outstanding young talent, and we're delighted to welcome her to Leyland BandMD, Thomas Wyss

Welcome

Speaking about the appointment, Musical Director, Thomas Wyss told 4BR: "Bethan is an outstanding young talent, and we're delighted to welcome her to Leyland Band.

She comes highly recommended as a wonderful student at Birmingham Conservatoire, and her soloistic qualities were clear for everyone to hear when she began to play.

It is great to have two of the finest young prospects playing in the same section in Bethan Brown and James Blackford, as we look forward to the North West Regional Championship in Blackpool."
