The north-east Essex based Tendring Brass has announced the appointment of the highly experienced David Johnson as their new Professional Musical Adviser.

He will both prepare and conduct the band at the forthcoming scaba (Brighton) contest and London & Southern Counties Regional Championship in Stevenage in March.

Self evident

Musical Director, Antony Sanders told 4BR: "Tendring Brass is very fortunate to have worked with both Paul Holland and David Johnson over the past five years and the progress made throughout this period with their help is pretty self-evident.

I've known David for many years. His wealth of musical knowledge, experience and enthusiasm can only benefit the band further as it looks to build on some fantastic results in its first ever year at Second Section level."

Potential promotion?

He added: "A good result at Stevenage could see Tendring's elevated to new heights with the distinct possibility of promotion to the First Section in 2021."

During the past year Tendring has successfully launched and established a Community Band, which sits alongside the existing Tendring Brass Academy which is now in its sixteenth year and has seen around half of the current senior band come through its ranks.
