Grimethorpe Colliery Band has announced the appointment of Adam Bokaris as the new Principal Euphonium player.
He replaces Michael Dodd who steps down from the role due to his extensive work commitments.
Thanks
Speaking about the appointment, Musical Director Dr. David Thornton said: "For as long as I can remember Michael has been at the forefront of brass band euphonium playing. His record speaks for itself and we can only thank him for everything he's contributed to the musical life of Grimethorpe Band."
In response Michael added: "I've enjoyed every minute of playing for the band I grew up wanting to be part of".
It is understood that Michael's experience will not be lost as he will assist with the running of the band and its burgeoning education programmes, as well as conducting and teaching at the bands outreach project at Birkwood Primary School.
Admired
Talking about his replacement from Fairey Band, Dr Thornton added: "I taught Adam at the RNCM for four years and have always admired his clear lyrical instincts and natural virtuosic flair.
He will fit in to our set up at Grimethorpe bringing with him ambition and desire for quality. I couldn't be more delighted to work with him again."

Pleased
Announcing the news on his own Facebook page, Adam said: "Very pleased to have been appointed solo euphonium with the Grimethorpe Band!
Thanks to everyone at the Fairey Band for a great 2 and a half years! And best wishes to Mike Dodd — who has left some seriously big shoes to fill!! Looking forward to the next chapter!"
It is understood that Adam will take up his new role in the New Year.
