City of Bradford Band has announced the appointment of the highly experienced Neil Day as their new principal cornet.

He will take up the post immediately and follows in the footsteps of Dave Carren who has moved to join the cornet section at Brighouse & Rastrick. Neil has previously played for Thoresby Colliery, Black Dyke and more latterly as principal cornet at City of Hull Band.

Speaking about the appointment, City of Bradford MD Lee Skipsey told 4BR; "I'm thrilled to welcome Neil to the band. He is such a highly regarded principal cornet player who possesses the sound, technique and temperament that stands out at the very highest level. This is a great Christmas present."

Thanks

Lee added: "Our thanks and best wishes also go to Dave who has been a wonderful bandsman and performer since coming to us in 2015.

These are exciting times for City of Bradford with a great deal to look forward to in 2020 and beyond with the next generation of young players from the organisation also making huge musical strides."
