A great new collaboration project called 'Creating a Buzz' was recently launched between Foden's Band and Age UK Cheshire.
A capacity audience Northwich Memorial Hall was treated to added extra entertainment during Foden's recent 'Memories of Christmas' concert with big-band singer Matt Ford as after only two fun packed sessions of tuition the players took to the stage to demonstrate their newly acquired music making skills.
The tuition was provided by Foden's members Anna Hughes-Williams, Mark Wilkinson and Darren Lea with the small ensemble giving a magnificent account of 'Jingle Bells' much to the delight of the audience.
They rounded off a memorable first outing by also joining the band in Leroy Anderson's 'Sleigh Ride'.
Enjoyment
Commenting on the initiative, Darren Lea from Foden's and Warwick Music Group told 4BR: "It's great to see the enjoyment and enthusiasm, and the players put their all into this project and the results really came through in their performance.
We can't wait to see what progress this group can make over the coming weeks as well as being part of the camaraderie and friendships that are forged whilst working together."
In response, project member Kim Smith (on trombone above) added: "The opportunity to be trained by the players from Foden's Band whilst being served coffee and cake was amazing meant we enjoyed the best of both worlds!"
We laughed a lot. This project is to combat loneliness and social isolation found with older people and it succeeds because it is fun, educational and guarantees that you meet new friends both young and oldKim Smith
Laughed
He added: "We laughed a lot. This project is to combat loneliness and social isolation found with older people and it succeeds because it is fun, educational and guarantees that you meet new friends both young and old."
The project continues and anyone over the age of 50 irrespective of musical experience is encouraged to join the group for their weekly sessions at the Castle Community Centre, Northwich.
