Additions add to Skelmanthorpe ranks

Three talented young players join the ranks of Skelmanthorpe Band

  MD Martin Heartfield welcomes the trio of new signings to the band

The Skelmanthorpe Band has welcomed a trio of talented young stars to their ranks as they look ahead to an exciting 2020 season.

Signings

Rachael Fyffe comes in cornet and is joined by David Allsopp Eb tuba and Nathan Sharpe on percussion.

Rachael has been a member of the Roughan Silver Band in Northern Ireland and joins after moving to the area to study Music Performance at Huddersfield University.

David is also studying in Huddersfield having previously been a member of the Long Eaton Band. He is also a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

Meanwhile, Nathan joins the percussion team having previously played for the Deepcar Band and is following his Post 16 studies at the New College in Pontefract.

The trio recently made their contest debuts with the band in helping them to victory at the Bolsover, Morley, Brass Factor and YHBBA contests, with MD Martin Heartfield telling 4BR: "We are delighted to welcome such a talented trio as we continue to develop and prepare for next year's busy programme of contests, concerts and recordings."
