Strata Brass has welcomed three new players to their ranks as the Yorkshire band looks forward to the 2020 season in the Championship Section.
James Atkins becomes the new principal cornet whilst American postgraduate student Riley Anderson takes on the solo euphonium role. Meanwhile, Andrew Thompson joins on solo horn after helping the band over the last few months
Signings
James recently graduated from the University of Salford where he discovered a passion for arranging as well as specialising in performance and conducting. He is the conductor of Stalybridge Old Brass and recently began work as a brass tutor for young and aspiring musicians with local music services.
Meanwhile, Riley has just started work towards a Masters in Performance at the RNCM in Manchester under the tutelage of Steven Mead.
They are joined by Andrew who has been enjoying helping the band out in recent months. Andrew was a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain where he played alongside Strata Brass MD Jonathan Bates. He recently held the solo horn role at Wakefield Metropolitan Band.
