We had a great response to our Monday morning quiz — with plenty of people getting the right answer in their bid to get their hands on two cracking CDs from Mike Lovatt and the Superbrass ensemble.
What animal
We wanted to know what animal linked a piece called 'El Gato' played by Mike on his CD '56 degrees North' with the great Duke Ellington trumpet player William Alonzo Anderson, the former Chelsea Football Club goalkeeper Peter Bonetti and a troublesome feline character in Batman films?
Answer:
The answer was of course a cat — not an alligator or penguin.
William Alonzo Anderson was nicknamed 'The Cat' — although not due to his incredible high altitude playing but for the way he used to 'scrap' with other children when he was a youngster.
The Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Bonetti also shared the same nickname (although Sir Alf Ramsay didn't think much of his feline qualities after the 1970 World Cup Finals defeat by West Germany), and the troublesome Catwoman caused problems for Bruce Wayne in the Batman movies.
Winner:
Our winner was John Dyer of Bradley near Huddersfield who used to play for Shaw Band and enjoys Salvation Army brass band music.
