St. Ronan's Silver Band has announced the appointment of Gordon Jenkins as their new conductor.
The former Whitburn, Scottish Co-op and current Newtongrange Band soprano cornet player, will make his contesting debut with the band at the 2020 Scottish Championships.
No hesitation
Commenting on the appointment, Band Chair, Claire Bell, told 4BR: "Gordon has been associated with St. Ronan's for several years now, having played with us on many occasions. We had no hesitation in appointing him to lead us at the most important contest of the year.
With his musical knowledge and experience and his skills in working with people, we are sure that Gordon will be a great asset to the band."

In response, Gordon was equally upbeat: "I'm really looking forward to working with St. Ronan's. They are a great band and it will be a privilege to take on this new role."
Gordon will be conducting the band at the Innerleithen Remembrance Services this weekend and playing with them at the Scottish Challenge Contest in Perth on St. Andrew's Day, prior to taking up the baton in January.
