The world renowned trumpeter and educator John Wallace will join forces with Whitburn Band for a special event focussing on the evocative themes of Remembrance and the World Wars.

The duo have recently collaborated on a project close to John's heart; recording a movement of his new composition 'Symphony for Brass Band' due to be released later this year, written in honour of his late father, Kiff Wallace, and dedicated to many of Scotland's distinguished bands.

Classic solos

Building upon the association Whitburn will present premieres of two more of John's recent compositions at a concert to be held in Kirkaldy on November 9th — including accompanying him in two of his new arrangements of classic cornet solos.

John Wallace told 4BR: "I feel privileged that Whitburn will be performing two of my latest compositions. They have been in my creative melting pot for a long time, and to hear them as finished works, bringing them to my roots in Fife to present to the general public for the first time, is incredibly exciting.

He added: "I've celebrated my 70th Birthday this year and having the opportunity to perform with this wonderful band will be a definite highlight, especially as they are supporting my passion for 19th century cornet solos and enabling me to present my favourites by Hartmann and Owen in my performance!"

Incredible musician

In response, Whitburn Band Chairman Charlie Farren added: "Everyone is really looking forward to performing once again with John, following our successful collaboration earlier this year. He is an incredible musician, and it is an honour to share the stage with him once more."
