Martin Dawson will become the new resident conductor at Raunds Temperance Band

Following the departure of James Hobbis to further his tuba playing career, Raunds Temperance Band has announced the appointment of Martin Dawson as their new resident conductor to work alongside Musical Director, Jonathan Pippen.

Wealth of experience

Martin brings a wealth of experience to the role as a player and conductor with the likes of Desford Colliery Band and the Alliance and Kibworth Bands. He has also gained international experience working in Thailand, Sri Lanka and the Kyrgyz Republic and was the popular guest conductor of the charity brass band ensemble, Boobs & Brass.

A permanent move back to the UK this year has afforded him the opportunity to become resident conductor of the Raunds Temperance Band.

We're delighted to have the opportunity to work with him again, and we're looking forward to continuing our progress in his and Jonathan's musical handsRaunds Temperance Band

Thanks

A Raunds Temperance spokesperson told 4BR: "We would firstly like to thank James for his tenure with the band, both as a conductor and a valued member of the bass section for what has been a remarkable contesting period. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

He added: "Many of the band have known Martin for several years due to his connections in the Midlands area. We're delighted to have the opportunity to work with him again, and we're looking forward to continuing our progress in his and Jonathan's musical hands."
