The Brass in Concert Championship has revealed the line-up of adjudicators for its 43rd Festival, which will be held at Sage Gateshead on Sunday 17th November in association with Yamaha, World of Brass and Banks Group.
Judges
The Quality of Performance element will be adjudicated by two of the world's finest brass performers, Ian Bousfield and David Childs, whilst Programme Content will be in the hands of the vastly experienced conductor Jeremy Wise.
The Entertainment and Presentation elements will come under the scrutiny of the highly respected trombone soloist and conductor Chris Jeans and the internationally acclaimed trumpet star Mike Lovatt.
The separate solo prize will be adjudicated by the well known tuba virtuoso Les Neish.
Vastly experienced
Brass in Concert spokesperson David Bennett told 4BR: "We're delighted to be able to reveal such a high-quality panel of judges for this year's event. All are vastly experienced professional musicians."
He added: "Ian Bousfield and David Childs complement the musical quality background of the festival, whilst we welcome back Jeremy Wise who was a panel member in 2018.
Chris Jeans, has previously conducted and performed at the contest and we are delighted to welcome Mike Lovatt, who vowed the audience at last year's World of Brass in Concert Gala Concert. Les Neish, who adjudicated here in 2016, needs no introduction as one of the finest tuba players in the world."
Youth Brass in Concert
David also confirmed the identity of the two judges for the second Youth Brass in Concert taking place on Saturday 16th November.
Roger Argente, the renowned orchestral trombonist and Head of Brass at the Royal Welsh College of Music will judge Quality of Performance, whilst the highly respected trombonist and conductor Jayne Murrill will adjudicate Entertainment and Presentation.
