Kirkbymoorside open doors to next 200 years of community music making

The doors have finally been opened on the new musical home of Kirkbymoorside Town Band, after an amazing fun raising project.

Kirkbymoorside
The opening of the new rehearsal facility was made by the man who it was named after — James Holt

Kirkbymoorside Town Band recently opened their brand new rehearsal room complex- to complete an ambitious project that saw them raise over £370,000 from grants, generous benefactors and fund raising activities to secure the next 200 years of their future by completely rebuilding their 100 year old headquarters.

Opening

Over 250 people were on hand to see the opening of the James Holt Concert Hall — with the ribbon cut by the man himself.

The local community, who have been integral to the success of the fund raising turned out in force alongside children from the Kirkbymoorside Training Bands and the 1st Kirkbymoorside Scouts (who will also use the facilities) to celebrate the opening.

Wonderful way

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a wonderful way to open the doors on the next 200 years of brass band playing in our community.

It was summed up perfectly in fact by Bertie Smailes, aged 7, from the Beginner Band wrote in the official opening book that it had all been inspiring."
