Welsh Area champion Tredegar will be linking up with the Band of the Welsh Guards this weekend for a special concert in the heart of the Welsh capital.
Concert link
The 'Pride of Wales' event will see the bands under the batons of Ian Porthouse and Major Stewart Halliday provide an evening of musical entertainment at the Dora Stoutzker Hall of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama on Saturday 21st September (7.30pm).
The following day members of the Band of the Welsh Guards Band will head to Tredegar where they will host a free workshop for young players (11.30am — 2.00pm), which is open to players from all local bands.
Tredegar MD Ian Porthouse told 4BR: "We're delighted to make this important link with the Band of the Welsh Guards, who are incredible ambassadors for the nation and the 'Pride of Wales'.
The concert is sure to be a great night of music making and the Sunday is a great opportunity for youngsters to learn from the best — and it's free!Ian Porthouse
Free workshop
Their educational outreach work has created a major positive impact in local communities, so we're delighted that they are also taking time out from their busy schedule to visit us to help inspire young players.
He added: "The concert is sure to be a great night of music making and the Sunday is a great opportunity for youngsters to learn from the best — and it's free!"
