In 1999, ten young brass players from Stanley Newmarket Junior Band came together to reform a brass band that had disappeared along with its pit in the 1980's.
Two decades
Now two decades later on 5th October, Lofthouse Band will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special concert by performing music from the past 20 years as a number of items with guest soloist Mark Walters and a new composition by Keiron Anderson to celebrate the occasion.
Inspired
MD Andrew Whitaker told 4BR: "After Brass Band England's presentation by Philip Harper on Artistic Development, I went away and looked at the whole concert experience that we give, from the first point of contact to the feedback from a concert, the whole concert, and decided to rebuild it from the bottom up.
He added: "This will be the first chance we have to put those ideas, formed after that inspiring event. We have looked at what is involved and tried to come at all the aspects from a completely different angle.
This will be a different brass band concert experience for our audience and players, it's really exciting and the whole band is looking forward to it and by the ticket sales so are our audience."
