As the summer season comes to a close, the Shepherd Group Band has bid farewell to solo horn player Jenny Mansell, who leaves them to continue her studies at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester.

Outstanding

Jenny joined the band four years ago on 2nd horn before taking up the solo seat in September 2018, where she flourished according to MD, Richard Wilton.

"Jenny has become an outstanding player. This also marks four consecutive years in which players from the organisation have taken up places at the prestigious school."

Strength to strength

He added: "The organisation continues to grow, moving from strength to strength. Jenny is one example of the hard work and dedication we see from all of our members, and we are extremely proud of what they continue to achieve."

In 2012 the organisation consisted of three bands, and now boasts six — providing a pathway of musical teaching and enjoyment from beginners to senior contesting band.
