Thanks to everyone who took the time to work out our brain tickler Bank Holiday quiz in the hope of winning the DVD of the 'Highlights of the 2019 European Championships' from Montreux.
The question we asked was to find the link between a 1890's British Open test-piece, a Liverpool football star and a hit single from 1986 for the American pop group 'The Bangles?
Answer:
The answer was of course all things Egyptian...
The 1897 British Open test-piece was Rossini's 'Moses in Egypt' arranged by the great Charles Godfrey, and which was won by Mossley Band conducted by the equally great Alex Owen.
The Liverpool footballer was the incredible Mohamed Salah — nicknamed the 'Egyptian Messi' or 'The Pharaoh', whilst the memorable pop song from The Bangles was of course, 'Walk like an Egyptian'.
Winner:
Our winner was Janella Calvert who plays in a brass band in Scarborough.
