John Davis has become the new Musical Director at Unite the Union Band

Unite the Union Band has announced the appointment of the experienced John Davis as their new Musical Director.

John has enjoyed success as a conductor over the years with the likes of Riddings, Dronfield Genquip and more recently Foresters Band, which he will continue to conduct alongside Unite.

John was initially engaged by the Yorkshire band on an interim basis to conduct at the British Open Spring Festival in May and also led them on their recent concert appearance at the 'Music in the Gardens' event at Sheffield's Botanical Gardens.

New challenge

Looking forward to the new challenge he told 4BR: "I'm absolutely thrilled to have been offered the role with Unite, a band that I've both admired and worked with a number of times over the years.

They have a number of prestigious engagements to look forward to and a fantastic work ethic. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in!"

Thrilled

In response, a band spokesperson added: "We thoroughly enjoyed working with John for the Spring Festival and found his musicality, enthusiasm and hard work to be second to none.

We were thrilled when John expressed his interest to work us on a permanent basis and we are all very excited to see what the future holds."
