Report & Results: 2019 Elland Silver 30th Anniversary Slow Melody & Quartet & Duet Contest

There was a wonderful display of musical talent on show in Elland on the weekend

Elland
There was plenty of great musical talent showing their faces at the event

This year's excellent event was held amid the splendid surroundings of Blackley Baptist Church in Elland, and with the contest having been given a complete overhaul, both competitors and audience alike were able to enjoy a great day of high class musical entertainment.

Appreciative

All the performers were given the opportunity to perform with piano accompaniment in a wonderful acoustic, with adjudicator Roger Webster able to sit back and enjoy the playing along with an appreciative audience of brass band lovers and family members.

Vouchers from Band Supplies Limited were presented to all the winners.

Roger complimented the Elland organisation on staging the well run event, before giving the young competitors invaluable advice on how to get the most out of their playing and performances.

He also praised the young performers on their varied choice of music, which was greatly enhanced by the piano accompaniment.

Thanks

Band Secretary, Kathleen Harrison told 4BR: "We must thank all of our many volunteers for helping to steward the event, and especially Roger for his most encouraging comments and feedback and our wonderful pianist, David Hall. We hope to continue the contest for many years to come."

To celebrate the anniversary, the Elland Sliver Band presented an evening concert which featured four of the winning soloists.
