The statement issued is as follows:

"Opus 3 Artists announced today that conductor Bramwell Tovey has been diagnosed with cancer. His doctors expect him to make a complete recovery.

At the advice of his medical team, Maestro Tovey has withdrawn from select appearances while undergoing treatment. We ask for understanding and apologise in the event of any further unexpected disruptions to his conducting schedule."

Foden's response

In response Foden's Band have issued the following statement:

"Foden's have had a working relationship with Bramwell since 2000 and were honoured when he accepted our invitation to become the band's President.

As well as his involvement with Foden's he has a strong passion for brass bands and since 2006 has also been Artistic Director of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

All at Foden's class Bramwell as a close friend and on behalf of the banding movement send our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery."
