The Geneva Group is to continue with its support of grassroots banding in the north east of England with the news that they are to sponsor the popular Durham County Brass Band Association 'Picnic in the Park' Entertainment Contest.

Huge boost

The event will be held in the grounds of Houghall College, Durham on Sunday 7th July, with Hugh Stephenson, Vice President of the Association telling 4BR that the support comes as a huge boost.

"We have been working hard over the past two year to build a solid foundation for the contest following the withdrawal of financial support from Durham County Council"he said.

"We would like to say a big thank you to Tim Oldroyd (CEO) for his quick response to my recent request and for saving the contest. We're absolutely delighted."

Support

Simon Miller, UK Sales Manager for Geneva Instruments told 4R: "Geneva Group remain committed to grass roots brass banding especially when such an important contest takes place so close to our head office. We look forward to being part of supporting their activities."

The closing date for entries from member bands is Monday 17th June. The adjudicator is Sam Fisher.
