Eagley add musical accompaniment to Gandalf birthday

The Eagley Band band helped actor Sir Ian McKellen enjoy his 80th birthday.

Sir Ian is best known to many as the wizard Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films

The Eagley Band under MD Chris Wormald recently entertained 180 specially invited guests at the private Gala Birthday Dinner held in honour of the actor Sir Ian McKellen.

Hosted at Bolton School, where Sir Ian made his acting debut nearly 70 years ago, it was attended by a host of stars of stage and screen, including Sir Derek Jacobi and Timothy West, cast members of Coronation Street, together with former Fleet Street editor Janet Street Porter and Hollywood star Luke Evans, star of 'Beauty and the Beast'

He sang a number of songs accompanied only by piano, whilst a 'live' video message by X-Men and Wolverine star Hugh Jackman was relayed on a large screen as he was on stage just a few miles away in Manchester on his Greatest Showman European Tour.
