The contest was a fantastic mix of brass bands and the occassional glass of beer...

The weather held its form as well as the bands at the Midlands & Brass Entertainment contest held at Victoria Farm Caravan site near Lutterworth on the weekend.

Adjudicators Dave Lea and Rob Stew certainly enjoyed themselves with Enderby Concert Band taking the Section A honours (for non-registered bands) and £100 first prize ahead of Coleshill Youth and Thrapstone.

Fine success

There was a fine success for the Newhall Band in the Section B event as they pipped rivals Corby Silver and Ratby Mid to the £100 first prize, helped by MD Kevin Holdgate's natty attire and some splendid playing, especially from principal cornet Vicki Kennedy who deservedly claimed the 'Best Soloist' award.

Wantage Concert Band took the Section C top prize and 'Most Entertaining Band of the Day' award, whilst a performance described as "What a great start to the contest!"and "a great and entertaining performance"from Coleshill Training took the Section D prize — gaining a fantastic 97 points out of 100 from adjudicator John Randle.
