Fresh from their recent victory in the Second Section of the Midlands Regional Championships in Bedworth the Gresley Colliery Band organization has informed 4BR that it continues with its long term investment in youth.
The winner of its 'Band Soloist' event is invited to play a solo with its youth band when it travels to Skegness and takes part in the Butlins Youth Section.
Constructive feedback
The band thanked the vastly experienced Alwyn Green who agreed to adjudicate the proceedings, and who gave wonderfully constructive feedback on each of the performances.
20 players took part in three sections; Junior, Senior and Open, with an excellent standard in each. The eventual champion after a keenly competed event was Emily Pike, who he said was "a worthy winner"and had played "exceptionally well"on 'Virtuosity', a very difficult piece and that her sound "was very special indeed".
All those who were placed received a certificate, a medal and a cash prize.
