Childs to join Black Dyke for Band of the Year appearance

The BrassPass 'Band of The Year' contest which will take place at Manchester's Stoller Hall on Saturday 22nd June, has announced that David Childs will be the guest soloist in its Gala Concert featuring Black Dyke.

Line-up

The contest line-up will see the Queensbury band up against National Champion Foden's, British Open Champion Cory, Regional Champions, Brighouse & Rastrick, Tredegar and Flowers, as well as the top-ten ranked bands of Carlton Main Frickley, Fairey and Whitburn.

Each band will provide a 30 minute own-choice selection of music that must include a solo. The contest organisers stressed that it is not an 'entertainment' event and that the international panel of adjudicators will be judging purely on the quality of music making.
