Arrow Valley Brass has announced that MD David Stanley is to retire after more than 40 years service to the band.
However, it was also confirmed that he will still encourage young players in particular in the organisation that he founded.
Right time
David told 4BR: "My involvement with the band has reduced as time has marched on and I feel that it's now right for someone else to take over.
I've been very fortunate to have made so many friends in the wider band world and at Arrow Valley in particular.
I never imagined where joining my village band at Blockley around 1950 would lead, and I hope that I can still help others to find similar enjoyment."
Under his direction Arrow Valley enjoyed considerable success, winning a number of local contests such as the Stroud Brass Band Festival, West Midlands BBA contest and Wychavon. The band also qualified for the National Finals on a number of occasions.
