Lofthouse 2000 Band has announced the death of their solo cornet player Bob Hick, who passed away in the early hours of Saturday 23rd February at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield. It followed a short illness.
True gentleman
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Bob was a true bandsman, always willing to help with the running of the band as well as giving encouragement to players especially our beginners.
He will be remembered with a smile when we think of his storytelling and the anecdotes he readily passed on."
Bob was known throughout the local banding community as a very fine cornet player. He played with many local bands including a long spell at Kippax as well as the West Yorkshire Police Band.
