National Champion Foden's warmed up for the defence of its North West Regional title in Blackpool on the weekend with their annual Patrons' Concert held in their home town of Sandbach.
The band is looking to claim the Area title for a fourth consecutive year under the baton of Russell Gray, and gave a sneak preview of the test-piece 'Seascapes' to a packed audience of over 500 supporters.
Solos and presentations
Now in its 32nd year, the Patrons also enjoyed solos from Richard Poole, Gary Curtin, Mel Whyle and Mark Landon, as well as popular favourites under MD Michael Fowles, whilst Russell Gray led the Area test-piece on a warmly received return to the event.
During the evening the band made its annual awards, with the 'Bandsperson of the Year' going to cornet player Darren Lea and John Barber being presented with the 'Player of the Year' accolade.
The concert also gave Foden's the opportunity to thank Andy Scott who ended his 11 year tenure as Composer in Residence. Michael Fowles presented Andy with a limited edition print of a painting featuring the band (above).
