Davoren premiere for Band of Welsh Guards St David's Day appearance

A new work by Tom Davoren will be performed at a special St David's Day Concert in Brecon by The Band of the Welsh Guards.

  The Band of the Welsh Guards will be making a welcome visit to Brecon

The Band of the Welsh Guards will be marking St David's Day with a special concert in the heart of the nation.

Under the direction of Major David Barringer they will be making a welcome return to Brecon to perform on Friday 1st March at Theatr Brycheiniog (7.45pm).

Davoren premiere

The special programme of stage and screen music will feature works by the likes of Leonard Bernstein as well as Welsh composers Sir Karl Jenkins and Tom Davoren.

Tom recently visited the band and will collaborating with the band on several new projects, with the concert showcasing the UK premiere of his latest work, 'Riding to Olwen'.

West End star

Also joining them for the event will the Welsh award-winning West End musical theatre star, Lucie Jones, who has recently starred in 'Les Miserables', 'We Will Rock You' and 'Legally Blonde. Her television credits also include' X Factor' and the 'Eurovision Song Contest'.

A spokesperson for the band told 4BR: "We are delighted to give this performance on such a special day — and we can guarantee it will be full of Welsh passion, excellence and British military grandeur."
