The complexities of current Child Performance Licensing legislation and guidelines has led Brass Bands England to publish extensive information for the benefit of all bands that will be competing at this year's Regional Championships.
BBE has produced general information that they hope will clarify competing band's understanding as well as what action they must take.
Protect
Child Performance Licensing is a legislation introduced to regulate performances by children under the age of 16. Its intention is to protect children from commercial exploitation and from inappropriate working hours to the detriment of their education.
Its scope is UK wide and applies equally in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The responsibility of the issuing of licensing falls initially on event organizers, but if not in place, that responsibility falls on performing organizations.
That means that it could apply to brass bands — all of who need to be clear of how it directly affects them.
