At their popular concert in Scarborough earlier this month the 2018 Grand Shield champion, Hammonds presented its annual awards.

Principal trombone Matthew Brown was voted 'Players' Player of the Year' in recognition of an outstanding season in which he was a featured soloist at the high profile Brass in Concert Championship and played an integral part in their Spring Festival triumph.
Meanwhile, David Long was voted by his fellow players as 'Bandsperson of the Year' to recognition of his dedicated work as Concerts Manager as well as his BBb tuba playing.
Player of the Year
The final award was judged by Musical Director Morgan Griffiths, who chose repiano player Sharon Swales as his 'MD's Player of the Year' following the impact she has made since joining the band as well as becoming a star performer on the contest and concert stage.
