Strong entertainment line-up for 2019 Welsh Open

The popular Welsh Open Entertainment Championship has attracted 14 from both sides of the River Severn keen to get their hands on the prize money, trophy and invite to the Spring Festival.

  The 2019 Welsh Open kick starts the contest season in Wales.

The will be an excellent line-up of 14 bands taking to the stage of Porthcawl's Pavilion Theatre on Saturday 16th February for the 2019 Welsh Open Championship.

Prizes

The popular entertainment contest has attracted bands from both sides of the River Severn, all keen to get their hands on the £1,000 first prize and the magnificent CISWO Trophy.

In addition, the highest placed band not already qualified will be invited to compete at the Senior Trophy at the British Open Spring Festival in Blackpool in May.

The defending champion Filton Concert will be up against a strong looking field of rivals — headed by former champions Tongwynlais Temperance, Burry Port and BTM, as well as bands from the West of England, Midlands and London & Southern Counties.

Adjudicator

The adjudicator this year is Cory MD, Philip Harper, with Dave Hayward the welcoming and knowledgeable compere. The separate entertainment award will be judged by Sarah Hayward.

There will be a split draw this year at 10.00am and 2.00pm. The contest starts at 11.00am.

Harrogate Band

June 15 • After a fantastic result at the Wetherby Drovers Contest, The Harrogate Band are looking for a front row and a back row cornet player to complete the team. Rehearsals Weds 8pm with occasional Sundays at our own bandroom with great transport links


Tintwistle Band

June 15 • We have a vacancy for soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up would love to get this seat filled!. As a second section band,we rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our bandroom in Tintwistle under the baton of MD Jim Henson.
