The death has been announced of Dianne Hastings, the Life Vice-President of the East Anglian Brass Band Association, who passed away on Thursday 8th November.

Her daughter, Christine Wade, Association Secretary told 4BR: "Dianne was the highly respected secretary of the association for over 42 years until her retirement in 2015 following a stroke.

She and her late husband Brian worked tirelessly for brass bands and their members in East Anglia."

Royal honour

In 2002 and in recognition of their work, the couple were honoured to be invited to a Royal Garden Party as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

For many years Dianne was an active member of the London & Southern Regional Committee and passed away listening to music on a DVD from Brass in Concert.

Amazing contribution

Christine Wade added: "We are all very sad at the sudden loss of Mum. She was a hard act to follow when I became Secretary following her retirement.

Mum was never a player but her many years of hard work and commitment to brass players and brass bands was amazing."

Funeral details will be announced shortly.
