The death has been announced of David Chaulk

The death, following a short, unexpected illness, has been announced of David Chaulk, the highly regarded musician and founder and Managing Director of Experianza Music.

Highly successful

Born in Canada, he went on to perform as a professional musician and as a highly successful businessman across the world, winning three New Zealand B Grade National Championships as a conductor, as well as in 2004, becoming the first person in many years to retain the prestigious New Zealand National Champion of Champions solo title.

Respected

He performed with a number of leading professional orchestras and brass bands, was a highly respected composer and adjudicator, and for two years was an Artist Teacher at the New Zealand School of Music.

His works have been performed by both professional and amateur ensembles — with his composition 'Terra Nova' being used as the set-work for the Fourth Section Swiss National Championship in 2017.
