In the second part of 4BR's Legends of Brass interview with David Read, we cover his conducting and adjudicating career.

David talks about his time with Cambridge Co-operative Band and the link with organist Arthur Wills and his composition 'The Fenlands', as well as the start of his adjudication career.

He discusses working in the box alongside musicians from outside the brass banding world such as Sir David Wilcocks and composers such as Derek Bourgeois, why he thinks it's important for any adjudicator to learn their trade.

He also talks about the one performance that stood out from the rest, his admiration for Stanley Boddington and his pride at receiving the MBE.
