Wales looks out for more national recruitment

National Youth Arts Wales is now actively recruiting for its 2019 music ensembles — and especially to become a member of its flagship National Youth Brass of Wales.

The 2019 course will once again be led by Cory MD Philip Harper, with the promise of a great week of inspirational tuition and music making between the 21st and 28th July.

Fantastic course

A spokesperson told 4BR: "This promises to be yet another fantastic course — and will build on the success of the concerts given in 2018 in Neath, Newtown and Cardiff under Philip's directions.

We are also keen to ensure that no-one is deterred from applying to the NYAW ensembles for financial reasons, and if the applicant wishes to apply for a bursary toward their audition fee, they should contact Alex James on 029 2063 6466 or through alexjames@nyaw.org.uk for an application form."

All applications for financial assistance will be treated in the strictest confidence.

March 27 • We are a friendly progressive 1st Section band who need a couple of seats filled.. Bb BASS and PERCUSSIONIST are on our wanted list so if you are looking for a new banding challenge get in contact. We rehearse on Wednesdays and have good realistic diary.


Newport Borough Brass Band

March 27 • After a respectable 4th place in the 2nd Section at the Welsh Area Contest, we are looking for FRONT ROW CORNET (position negotiable) 1st BARITONE, 2ND TROMBONE and Bb BASS players to come and join us on our journey under the baton of Martin McHale BEM.


East London Brass

March 27 • PERCUSSION - ELB are the look out for a percussionist to complement our existing section. We have a sensible diary of contests and concerts and are ambitious to keep progressing as a band.
