Not all eyes and ears will be on the musical action at the Royal Albert Hall next weekend, as over in The Netherlands, Brass Band Schoonhoven will undertake a mini tour taking in both ends of the country.
South then North
Conducted by brand new Musical Director, Robbert Vos, the 'Brass Virtuosi Concerts' on October 5th and 6th will see them first head to the south and the village of Nistelrode, Brabant, followed by a trip north the following day to perform in the city of Heerenveen.
The band will be joined by two exciting guest soloists, with Lode Violet, principal cornet of Brass Band Willebroek, performing the Dutch premiere of Edward Gregson's 'Cornet Concerto' as well as the 'Fortune's Fool' by Belgian composer Stan Nieuwenhuis.
Joining him will be Rommert Groenhof, the acclaimed bass trombonist of the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy.
He will perform the Derek Bourgeois 'Bass Trombone Concerto' as well as the intriguingly entitled, 'James Brown in the Twilight Zone' — from the Dave Bruck 'Bass Trombone Concerto' —
The band meanwhile will also feature 'Shine as the Light', 'Balkan Dance', 'Elegy' from 'A Downland Suite', and several other compositions.
Both soloists will be hosting brass workshop in the afternoon of the 6th October in Heerenveen which applicants still can apply for4BR
