The Freckleton Band has announced through its website that their long serving Musical Director Paul Dalton has left his role following their appearance at the National Finals in Cheltenham on the weekend.

Initially joining the band in 1980 on trombone, he went on to become deputy conductor and resident conductor. After a short period successfully conducting other bands in the 1980s he returned in 1995 as Musical Director.

The band was also multiple winners of the regional Fleetwood and NWABBA contests, secured victory at the Land o' Burns and Wilkinson Northern Open. They also qualified for the First Section National Final on six occasions and made three appearances at the Scottish Open and six appearances at the Grand Shield.
